Around 300 children a day
became infected with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa in 2022, with the vast majority of infections due to mothers not receiving antiretroviral treatment, not being able to remain on treatment, or contracting HIV during pregnancy or breastfeeding.2
Around 80% of all malaria deaths
in the WHO Africa region in 2020 were among children. Malaria is a treatable and preventable disease, yet children continue to bear the brunt.3

Multiple sex partners doesn’t mean you’re trending. It means you are gambling with your health.
Spiritual sobolo won’t protect you from HIV. Be safe, use a condom.
Contraceptive injectables can’t stop you getting an STI. That’s a myth.
Drinking ice-cold water after sex can’t stop you getting pregnant. Don’t buy it!
If you are told you’re too young and beautiful to get pregnant, don’t buy it!
Squatting or urinating after sex can’t stop you getting pregnant.
There is no wrong time to test for HIV. Knowledge is power—get tested today.
No herbal medicine can prevent or cure HIV. Don’t buy it! Visit a clinic instead.
If he tells you to show him you love him with sex, tell him it’s up to you to decide.
If you were told a shower after sex cleans off HIV, it’s a lie.
Your period is nothing to be ashamed of—it’s a normal part of growing up.
Domestic violence is not a private family matter. Don’t cover it up. Tell the police or a crisis centre.

Minutes for Mentor Mothers is a unique opportunity for supporters to cycle alongside m2m supporters to discover the stunning landscapes of sub-Saharan Africa, and most importantly meet m2m Mentor Mothers and connect with the inspiring work they do, seeing first-hand how their invaluable support and fundraising is changing lives every day.
Since it’s inception in 2014, we have cycled 20,000km. Next year, m2m’s supporters are heading to Uganda, hoping to hit the next big milestone, and to continue on the journey towards a healthier, fairer future.

Carols by Candlelight has been a highlight of m2m’s annual calendar since 2017. The special event brings together m2m’s supporters and new friends to create a community of friends, and family. Join us this year to celebrate the richness of so many African cultures through the performances, readings and celebrations on the night.
For friends, families, team Christmas parties, this event welcomes everyone from all walks of life, to welcome the start of the festive season with a celebration inspired by m2m’s heritage and roots on the African continent.
Our beloved festive event is back! On Thursday 9 December, mothers2mothers (m2m) will host the fourth edition of our annual Carols by Candlelight concert, in the beautiful setting of St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge.
Many of the countries where m2m operares have a shared philosophy called Ubuntu, meaning “I am, because we are”. In the spirit of that philosophy—whatever your beliefs and traditions are—join us for a special evening of singing and readings, as we celebrate our shared connections and stand hand in hand with the communities we serve across sub-Saharan Africa this festive season!
This year—which marks our 20th anniversary—our line-up will be inspired by m2m’s African roots, and celebrate all that we have achieved over the last two decades. m2m Ambassador Christian Brassington will lead the celebrity readings, featuring British-Nigerian poet Theresa Lola, British-Ghanaian TV presenter Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, and writer and podcaster Remi Sadé. Guests will also be entertained by special performances by South-African Jazz vocalist Sandile Gontsana and St Paul’s Church Choir.
