Children

1 out of 11 children
born in sub-Saharan Africa dies before age 5—almost 15 times the average in high income countries.1

More than 350 children a day
became infected with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa in 2021, with the vast majority of infections due to mothers not receiving antiretroviral treatment, not being able to remain on treatment, or contracting HIV during pregnancy or breastfeeding.2

Around 80% of all Malaria deaths
in the WHO Africa region in 2020 were among children. Malaria is a treatable and preventable disease, yet children continue to bear the brunt.3

Carols by Candlelight has been a highlight of m2m’s annual calendar since 2017. The special event brings together m2m’s supporters and new friends to create a community of friends, and family. Join us this year to celebrate the richness of so many African cultures through the performances, readings and celebrations on the night.

For friends, families, team Christmas parties, this event welcomes everyone from all walks of life, to welcome the start of the festive season with a celebration inspired by m2m’s heritage and roots on the African continent.

LEARN MORE

Our beloved festive event is back! On Thursday 9 December, mothers2mothers (m2m) will host the fourth edition of our annual Carols by Candlelight concert, in the beautiful setting of St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge.

Many of the countries where m2m operares have a shared philosophy called Ubuntu, meaning “I am, because we are”. In the spirit of that philosophy—whatever your beliefs and traditions are—join us for a special evening of singing and readings, as we celebrate our shared connections and stand hand in hand with the communities we serve across sub-Saharan Africa this festive season!

This year—which marks our 20th anniversary—our line-up will be inspired by m2m’s African roots, and celebrate all that we have achieved over the last two decades. m2m Ambassador Christian Brassington will lead the celebrity readings, featuring British-Nigerian poet Theresa Lola, British-Ghanaian TV presenter Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, and writer and podcaster Remi Sadé. Guests will also be entertained by special performances by South-African Jazz vocalist Sandile Gontsana and St Paul’s Church Choir.

Tickets are from £30, and children can attend for free. Book your ticket now!

m2m follows appropriate COVID-19 safety guidelines, and may request additional precautions or safeguards during the event.
