Patrons and Ambassadors

Christian Brassington

Christian first came to public attention when he played a teenage Tony Blair in Channel 4’s Tony Blair: Rock Star, appearing simultaneously in every national newspaper clad in just a pair of or-ange & brown y-fronts and an Afghan coat. He would later also play a young Boris Johnson in When Boris Met Dave, again for Channel 4.

He played the wide-eyed Archduke Charles of Austria opposite Cate Blanchett in Shekhar Kapur’s Oscar-winning Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Christian has appeared in several Ealing Studio’s films including Noel Coward’s Easy Virtue, St Trinians II: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold and the John Landis-directed Burke & Hare.

Things took a darker turn in Steven Knight’s Redemption in which he played the sociopathic villain being hunted by Jason Statham. Other films include Susannah White’s Le Carre adaptation Our Kind of Traitor, Mrs Ratcliffe’s Revolution and the award-winning short The Body.

More recently, Christian appeared in the uplifting British film Fisherman’s Friends. Perhaps gaining some forgiveness after having repulsed viewers as Reverend Osborne “Ossie” Whitworth in BBC One’s Poldark. Christian’s other television credits include Land Girls, Hold The Sunset, Life In Squares and the upcoming Semi Detached (all for the BBC).

Christian received a classical training from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and his stage work includes playing opposite Andrea Riseborough in the West End production of A Brief History of Helen of Troy.
