Enel Green Power and m2m Launch Partnership

Enel1At a World AIDS Day celebration on 4 December in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, mothers2mothers (m2m) and Enel Green Power RSA (EGP) launched their new partnership. EGP RSA is a company committed to sustainable energy generation from renewable electricity in South Africa, and the development of local communities in the vicinity of their projects. EGP selected m2m to provide peer mentoring and education services in communities near its Tom Burke solar project in Limpopo, with the goal of empowering HIV-positive women to lead healthy, productive lives, and decreasing the number of babies born with HIV.
Enel2Through a two-year funding agreement with EGP, m2m will deliver Mentor Mother services at four sites in Limpopo, and also provide community-based Mentor Mother services at two of those site. Additionally, m2m Mentor Mothers will visit EGP’s Tom Burke solar project on four different occasions to provide group education sessions/talks for EGP employees.
Enel3The World AIDS Day event , which was held at Moong Village as part of the graduation ceremony for Tsheebee Primary School, introduced m2m to the local community as EGP’s flagship programme for its Tom Burke solar project. Fifteen Mentor Mothers and site staff conducted one-on-one sessions, group health education talks, and focus group discussions with approximately 100 young mothers and caregivers who attended the primary school graduation. Key topics communicated included HIV/AIDS basics, education on TB, and information on HIV testing and the importance of knowing your status.
