mothers2mothers (m2m) was thrilled to celebrate our longstanding partnership with Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE for the first time in the U.S., with an exclusive Mother’s Day event last Wednesday in Los Angeles, California. Among the special guests in attendance was Gucci America CEO Susan Chokachi. She joined an intimate group of m2m’s supporters, Board members, and senior staff at a private shopping experience and Mother’s Day lunch at the Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura. Gucci generously donated a percentage of sales made in store from 5th to 9th of May to m2m.

m2m’s collaboration with Gucci—one of the world’s leading luxury brands—spans almost a decade and includes a partnership with CHIME FOR CHANGE, which was founded by Gucci in 2013 to convene, unite, and strengthen the voices speaking out for gender equality. CHIME FOR CHANGE’s Co-Founder—Salma Hayek Pinault—serves as a global Patron of m2m.

“m2m is so grateful to have valued partners like Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE who share the goal of creating health and hope for women and their families, especially in the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in sub-Saharan Africa. Together, we are ensuring that more women have the power to take control of their lives and are equipped with the education and tools they need to raise the next generation,” said Rebecca Silver Fisher, North America Director of m2m.

In 2020, Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE launched a three-year partnership with m2m to provide additional support for our new programme in Ghana, which marks the first time we have provided services in West Africa. A team of 19 Mentor Mothers work in two health facilities and surrounding communities with high levels of HIV to improve the health and well-being of women and girls, fight stigma, and ensure that little ones, aged 0-3, grow up to be healthy, well developed children.

The programme offers pregnant women and new mothers—living with, or at risk of, HIV—vital education and support to help them and their families access health services, start and adhere to treatment, and stay in care. We also provide reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health, nurturing care, and early childhood development services, designed to support the critical period of development from conception, through pregnancy and breastfeeding, to when children reach three years of age. As of the end of last year, we had reached 4,161 new clients with our services.

We look forward to finding more special occasions to celebrate our partnership with Gucci as we continue to work together to create brighter futures for women, girls, families, and communities across sub-Saharan Africa.
