m2m’s SXSW Session on Racism, Gender Inequality, and Global Health Disparities

m2m’s SXSW session

mothers2mothers (m2m) was honoured to be selected to host a session at South by Southwest (SXSW)—the international festival and conference that took place in March of this year virtually. m2m’s SXSW session and all content was exclusive to SXSW until recently, and we are now proud to share is more broadly. The session explored how legacies of racism, gender inequality, and colonisation have manifested themselves in global health systems and how we can flip the narrative.

“For us at mothers2mothers, we remain committed to making sure all people and all communities have equal access to healthcare and where you live in the world, the colour of your skin, your sex, really shouldn’t determine your health, not in Africa, not in the United States, not anywhere,” said m2m Country Director Ilda Kuleba of Mozambique. Joining Ilda for this important discussion was Joia Crear-Perry, MD, Founder and President of @birthequity in Washington, DC.
